Waiting on God can feel painful, hope unrealized. It takes all my energy and attention to restrain myself from interfering in God’s plan. Meditating on and praying through God’s Word strengthens my resolve to wait patiently for the appointed time. Below are scriptures that encourage me to remain calm even when my impatient spirit wants to grow weary from waiting on God to fulfill His promise. There is a scripture for every day of the week. I pray these scriptures will refresh your spirit!
Psalm 27: 13-14 (Day 1)
I would have despaired unless I had believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord In the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; Be strong and let your heart take courage; Yes, wait for the Lord.
Psalm 40:1-3 (Day 2)
I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined to me and heard my cry. He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, And He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm. He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; Many will see and fear And will trust in the Lord.
Isaiah 40:28 – 31 (Day 3)
Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth Does not become weary or tired. His understanding is inscrutable. He gives strength to the weary, And to him who lacks might He increases power. Though youths grow weary and tired, And vigorous young men stumble badly, Yet those who wait for the Lord Will gain new strength; They will mount up with ]wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
Lamentations 3: 22-26 (Day 4)
The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The Lord is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I have hope in Him.” The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, To the person who seeks Him. It is good that he waits silently For the salvation of the Lord.
Isaiah 64: 4-5 (Day 5)
For from days of old they have not heard or perceived by ear, Nor has the eye seen a God besides You, Who acts in behalf of the one who waits for Him. You meet him who rejoices in doing righteousness, Who remembers You in Your ways.
Job 42:2 (Day 6)
“I know that You can do all things, And that no purpose of Yours can be thwarted.
Proverbs 19:21 (Day 7)
Many plans are in a man’s heart, But the counsel of the Lord will stand.
