Finding Peace in Chaotic Times

Christlike Life Ministries

There is much unrest in the world. There is much unrest in the hearts and minds of people.  Anxiety and fear shackle us, causing us to seek alcohol, drugs, sex, and other temporary solutions so we can sleep and dull the angst in our spirits.  On my journey to peace, I find peace to mean the following:

Peace is surrender, no longer striving against what God allows. Trusting His timing.  Trusting His ways.

Peace is releasing my thoughts about what should be and embracing what it is at the moment.

Peace is the confidence that God will work His plan and His plan is good and acceptable and perfect. (Romans 12:2).

Peace is accepting that everything will not go my way. Unimaginable evils will happen in this life because of sin’s unending presence in the world.  Although painful, I will be ok. God is with me!

Peace is committing to focus on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. (Philippians 4:8)

Peace is responding in obedience to God’s commands. Commands that honor my personal relationship with Him and commands that are designed to demonstrate God’s character in the world.

Inner peace is my decision to trust.

Peace is understanding that this life is temporary.  Eternity is forever. Because of my relationship with Jesus Christ, I have hope for my coming future.

Scriptures for Meditation.

Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. ( Psalm 46:10)

The steadfast of mind You will keep in perfect peace, Because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, For in God the Lord, we have an everlasting Rock. ( Isaiah 26:3-4)

Those who love Your law have great peace, And nothing causes them to stumble. (Psalm 119:165)

Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God. (Matthew 5:9)

For the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:23-24)

Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be fearful. (John 14:27)

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Behold, an hour is coming, and has already come, for you to be scattered, each to his own home, and to leave Me alone; and yet I am not alone, because the Father is with Me. 33 These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. (John 16:32 -33)

The Lord said to him, “Peace to you, do not fear; you shall not die.”Then Gideon built an altar there to the Lord and named it The Lord is Peace. To this day it is still in Ophrah of the Abiezrites. (Judges 6: 23-24)
